Holi: The Festival of Colours and Its Cultural Significance

The festival of Holi, which celebrates colour, love, and fraternity, is also referred to as Holika or Holika Utsav in different regions of India. Holi occurs on the Phalguna Purnima (Full Moon), which occurs in February or March according to the Hindu calendar. Around the nation, it is a holiday that is greatly enjoyed. It signals the arrival of spring and bids winter adieu for good. According to the Puranas, the day of Holi is also referred to as Vasant Mahotsav or Kama Mahotsav.

Red

Red represents fervour, vigour, sexuality, fertility, auspiciousness, and passion. When conducting wedding ceremonies, this colour is frequently employed. Indian brides traditionally wear vibrant red for their wedding outfit. It’s interesting that Goddess Shakti is connected to the colour red (popularly known as Durga). The root chakra can only be activated by using this colour.

Saffron
